Joe and Co are comprised of three members, Joe Nolan, Brian O’Shaughnessy and Dermot O’Shaughnessy, all from Co. Carlow. Dermot began writing the song as an entry to the 2005 ‘Song for Carlow’ competition, which saw Derek Ryan’s The Red Yellow and Green ultimately win. The song sat idle for a number of years, until recently when Joe’s son Sean purchased a voucher for a recording studio in Carlow town for his father, as a Christmas Present. In January 2025, Joe and Dermot recorded, mixed and mastered the song at Flash Studios in Carlow town. The song was then signed to Flash Studios own record label Flash Studios Music and is out now.
Dermot is Brians father and Joe’s father-in-law. Joe is from Fenagh and Brian and Dermot from Bagenalstown. They have all been playing together in a variety of bands and as solo musicians for years and all three teamed up to form Joe and Co for this project.
